Leila Sara Eppenberger

Dr. Leila Eppenberger is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Fellow of the European and Swiss Boards of Ophthalmology since 2023. She is currently working as a clinician and clinician scientist at the Department of Ophthalmology of the Inselspital, University Hospital of Berne, Switzerland.

She graduated summa cum laude from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Basel (Switzerland) in 2013, where she completed her doctorate in 2015. Before specialising in Ophthalmology, Leila held various residencies in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Neurology, and was awarded the title of General Internal Medical Practitioner in 2018. Additionally, she also graduated with honours from ETH Zurich in 2021 with a Master's degree in Health Sciences and Technology. She worked as a Clinical Research Fellow for 1.5 years in Singapore in the Ocular Imaging Research Group of the Singapore Eye Research Institute.

She has always had a strong research interest and has been involved in several clinical and observational studies, mainly focusing on myopia, medical retina, and ocular imaging.
