Miguel Ángel Sánchez-Tena is a ternured lecturer in the Department of Optometry and Vision at the Complutense University of Madrid since 2023. He previously served as Assistant Professor at the same institution (2021–2023) and as Adjunct Professor at the European University of Madrid (2012– 2021), where he also held the position of Deputy Director of the Doctoral School and Research. He has collaborated with ISEC Lisbon as a scientific and research advisor.
He holds a PhD in Optics, Optometry and Vision from the Complutense University of Madrid (cum laude), a Master’s in Business Administration, and multiple degrees in Optometry. His research focuses on myopia, ocular surface and contact lenses, clinical and public health optometry, and visual quality and refractive surgery. He has authored over 70 scientific publications in high-impact journals and participated in more than 50 national and international conferences. He has supervised 8 doctoral theses and currently oversees 4 more. He has led and participated in several research projects and clinical trials, including the CEME study on myopia control lenses in European children and Asymmetric myopic peripheral defocus lenses (MPDLs) by IOT. He has an active six-year research period (2012–2019).
