Cristina Álvarez Peregrina is a distinguished researcher and professor in the field of Optometry and Vision. She is currently a professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, in the Faculty of Optics and Optometry, since March 2022. Previously, she worked as a professor and researcher at the European University of Madrid for 12 years and as a marketing manager in a multinational company in the optical sector.

Research Experience:
Cristina has led the Vision Research Group, a consolidated group with four lines of research: myopia, ocular surface and contact lenses, clinical, hospital, and public health optometry, and visual quality and refractive surgery. Her work has resulted in more than 50 participations in national and international conferences and more than 60 scientific publications in high-impact journals. Her publications have garnered more than 500 citations in Scopus, indicating the influence and relevance of her research within the scientific community. This is evidenced by her h-index and i10-index, which are strong indicators of her research impact and productivity. She currently supervises several doctoral theses, five of which have already been defended. She has an active research period - Sexenio (2015-2020).

Research Projects:
She is actively involved in several significant research projects, including randomized controlled trials and epidemiological studies, which further highlight her commitment to advancing knowledge and improving clinical practices in optometry. Nowadays she is leading the multicenter Randomized controlled trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the ZEISS myopia control lens in European children (Carl Zeiss Vision GmbH, 2022-2025, €440,960).
